Gun Buyers Left Their Mark on 2021 Black Friday

If there is one thing that can be said with absolute certainty in American politics, Americans aren’t going to be giving up their guns so easily.

Since the Wuhan virus lockdowns kicked off in 2020, gun sales have increased at astronomical rates. Add in the rising crime rates and unrest, and you have the recipe for one of the biggest pro-Second Amendment shopping sprees in American history.

In 2021, this trend has not desisted. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the renowned firearm industry trade association, the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) processed 687,788 background checks during the week that led up to and the day of Black Friday.

On Black Friday alone, NICS processed 187,585 background checks. This was one of the Top 10 days for overall number of NICS checks. It also represented a 50% increase from Black Friday’s 2020 numbers (186,645).

“This figure of over 687,000 background checks is truly remarkable,” declared Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO.

“This year has already been shaping up to be the second strongest year for firearm sales on record, second only to 2020’s record-breaking number of 21 million background checks for a firearm sale. We anticipate, based on annual data, that firearm sales will rise during the final month of the year coinciding with hunting seasons and holiday sales. This figure, though, underscores the appetite for lawful firearm ownership in America and the resilience of the firearm and ammunition industry to meet that demand,” Bartozzi added.

The NSSF provided the breakout tables for each day of unadjusted FBI NICS background checks and The Top 10 Highest Days of FBI Background Checks.

Americans aren’t just going to give up their rights so easily. Their pro-gun instincts are firmly embedded in their DNA. Nevertheless, we cannot remain complacent. Pro-gun forces must always be pushing the envelope. The latest surge in gun sales shows that the Second Amendment is still a winning issue, or at the very least, has a significant constituency that could be tapped into.

This means that gun politics is still a winning issue that pro-gunners can use to punish the radical Left.
