Just ask residents of New Jersey. New Jersey is one of the most anti-Second Amendment states in the nation. For example, it is ranked in 48th and 49th place for Guns & Ammo magazine’s rankings for best states for gun owners and best states for concealed carry respectively.
Now the New Jersey State Senate is putting forward a proposal to infringe on the rights of citizens to keep firearms in their own homes.
On December 9, 2021, the Senate Law & Public Safety Committee heard legislation that would compel gun owners to store their firearms and ammo in their home or potentially face felony charges if they violate the law.
”Safe storage” laws are anything but safe. They give criminal a leg up in self-defense encounters in how they make it more difficult for lawful citizens to take out their firearms in a timely manner. These are situations where every second counts. And a bill like S. 3757 could vastly endanger lawful gun owners who have the misfortune of having to confront a criminal during a home invasion.
The bill would require ammo and firearms to be stored and locked separately. In effect, this legislation would nullify a person’s ability to defend themself. Gun controllers try to gaslight the public into adopting their tyrannical schemes under the guise of “firearm safety.” However, careful inspection of gun control legislation and its nasty consequences shows that these bills are all about depriving people of their rights and leaving them at the mercy of predatory criminals.
Families can learn safe storage practices and other forms of safe gun usage through civil society and the vast gun safety material gun organizations can provide. Having a well-armed populace that uses firearms responsibility does not require a heavy-handed state to be brought about.
Gun controllers don’t get this, because they’re complete control freaks and fanatically committed to dominating people’s lives. For them, the state is a mechanism to turn people into helpless serfs that can’t defend themselves against real threats.
