Silencer Shop Claims the ATF is Approving Suppressors at Faster Rates

While the Second Amendment is still relatively intact, there are still significant amounts of regulations that undermine the right to bear arms.

For example, agencies like ATF are notorious for giving bureaucrats excessive power to micromanage people’s ability to fully exercise their Second Amendment rights. One way they do so is by regulating firearms accessories such as suppressors and silencers.

Despite these obstacles, people are still buying these accessories at a respectable rate. Due to the ATF’s recent decision to allow for Form 4s or "Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm" to be submitted via eForms, the amount of time for lawful individuals to obtain a firearms suppressor has been sharply reduced.

Tyler Durden of ZeroHedge pointed out that “Anyone who has bought a suppressor over the years has painfully understood it takes the ATF a mindnumbing 6 to 9 months for approval until now.”

Per a recent post by Firearm Blog, in which it referenced, Silencer Shop, a company that specializes in suppressors and submits Form 4’s on for customers, the ATF’s eForm process has experienced approval procedures that take as low as 6 days to be fully realized.

The new eForm process was rolled out back in December 2021. This revised process sped up the process for a lawful citizen to obtain a silencer within 90 days. Silence Shop reported that there have been many cases where eForms were approved in 30 days in addition to the cases where EForms were approved in less than a week.

"Numerous Silencer Shop customers have already received their eForm 4 approvals. Per the ATF, the timeline was an expected 90 days, and some customers have been approved much sooner. Silencer Shop dealers have been a resource for the community by submitting eForm 4s since the middle of January 2022. We've seen applications submitted on Jan 17, 2022 approved on February 11, 2022, which is less 30 days and we've even seen a 6 day approval!" observed Dave Matheny, CEO of Silencer Shop.

"Customers have reacted enthusiastically to the Silencer Shop Full Auto software; it's been great seeing such positive outcomes for gun owners getting their suppressors or other NFA items so quickly," Matheny added.

So far, it’s been smooth sailing for the eForm system. This new way of processing applications could allow lawful citizens to acquire suppressors in a much more rapid manner than the old timeframe of 6 to 9 months.

When it comes to acquiring firearms and accessories, It’s hard to fully prevent Americans from exercising their rights. The last two years have demonstrated the lengths Americans will go to arm themselves despite the gun control regulations they’ve had to put up with.

While it’s good that the ATF has simplified several of its approval procedures. Gun owners should not be at the mercy of bureaucratic agencies when conducting simple firearms transactions. Part of restoring the Second Amendment in America involves abolishing the ATF.

Unelected bureaucrats should not be micromanaging American’s right to bear arms.
