If gun control worked, Chicago would be the safest city in the United States. But, we don’t live in a fantasy land, and the gun control “paradise” had another bloody weekend, with at least 70 people being shot, with 12 of those shootings being fatal.

This is up from the previous weekend, where 56 people were shot, 11 fatally, in what has become normal in the Democrat-run city.

Local station ABC 7 lists just a small number of the shootings that occurred over the weekend, including a 44-year-old convenience store worker who was fatally shot Saturday night in a random act of murder, 15 and 17-year-old boys who were shot in a backyard the same night, and a 37-year-old who was murdered in a drive-by shooting at the same time as the backyard shooting.

Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown held a press conference following the violent weekend, where he blamed it on illegal guns bought out-of-state. States like Indiana, which have far more firearm freedom than Illinois, often get blamed for violence in Chicago. Yet, Indiana isn’t ravaged with the same extreme violence, making that claim laughable.

Last week, Joe Biden’s Justice Department revealed they are deploying gun-control goon squads in five major cities, including Chicago, as Pro-Gun News previously reported.

In practice, these self-described “strike forces” will most likely be used to target non-violent gun owners who choose not to be easy targets in the dangerous city.

Over the July 4th weekend, as shootings ravaged the city, police focused on an Iowa man who was found with a rifle and handgun in his downtown hotel room. While mainstream media outlets ignored the violence over the weekend, they spent time to paint that man, who was in town to propose to his long-time girlfriend, as a would-be mass shooter who was stopped by police.

Pro-Gun News previously reported:

“But while CNN didn’t cover this story, they did find time to report on an Iowa man who was arrested for having a handgun and rifle in his hotel room while visiting Chicago. They painted the 32-year old man as a would-be mass shooter, despite the fact that his plans in Chicago were to propose to his fiance, which he was still thankfully able to do after being released from jail after paying his $10,000 bond.”

Violence will continue in the Windy City as long as they continue believing that their gun control laws do anything besides restrict law-abiding citizens.
